From the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon to the peaks and deep valleys like that of Kinzua gorge in the Allegheny Plateau, the Pennsylvania Wilds has its share of mountainous terrain, which is celebrated in these oval brass earrings. The raw brass pieces are hammered on the rim for a wintery effect, and they are then hand-stamped with a design of mountains, darkened and sealed. The stamped brass is attached to hypoallergenic handmade sterling silver ear wires with rubber backs.

Meet the Maker
Owner Staci Egan started Contempo Jewelry in 1999, leaving her other job in 2008 to run her jewelry company full-time. She is a Pennsylvania-based nature lover and small-batch jewelry designer/instructor, who specializes in wire working techniques featuring semi-precious stones, freshwater pearls, and assorted conflict-free metals. She loves things naturally beautiful like fresh-picked strawberries or sweet-scented pink peonies that have imperfections, like the freshwater pearls and semi-precious stones she uses. Each piece may have some extra lines, blemishes, and even inclusions, giving each unique piece character. Staci and husband David are part of a team supporting local and handmade items in rural Pennsylvania sold at their Philipsburg-based store Smith + Front.
Smith + Front is located in the I-80 Frontier; learn more about this inspiring landscape now.
