Throughout locomotive history, train engineers have always used train whistles, part of the actual train, to both signal train stations of their approach and to communicate with other railroad workers. The effectiveness of these whistles was based on their high velocity squeals that would let people know that trains were thundering down the tracks. Now, both kids and adults can own their very own train whistle. Made by Maple Landmark Toy Company, these whistles are made from both pine and birch, and engraved in the PA Wilds with "Kinzua Bridge State Park." When people blow into the top, the whistle emits a similar sound to that of an actual train engine. Note: For ages 5 and up.
